The government is fully signed up to Green AGW counter-measures
Britain is now the most advanced nation in the world in combating CO2 emissions
Pity really that they have made us the least competitive manufacturing nation in the world because of these CO2 reduction measures, and that companies like TATA are leaving for places with energy prices unencumbered by CO2 reduction straight-jackets.
Let's recall
Britain is committed to spending £18billion per annum on carbon reduction for the next 40 years - the quite mad measure introduced by Edward Milliwat in the last government and that this government is too timid and supine to change
Oh yes, and the government is committed to spending £19billion on wind generated electricity in order to reduce carbon emissions
Except....
Except that the Generating Industry have approached the government to tell them that , because wind-generated electricity is so unreliable - it doesn't work on these nice calm summer evenings for example, then we will require gas-fired generating plant to ensure continuity of electricity supply.
This will require 19 gas-powered generating stations, doubling the cost of the wind-generated electricity supply.
Furthermore, as it is not known when the wind-electricity will fail, it is necessary to keep the gas-generated electricity generators running at all times. And whilst they are running they will be pumping CO2 into the atmosphere. So we will have to also pay for not meeting our carbon emission targets!
This is sheer , sheer madness- the work of amateurs who are only concerned with pats-on-the-back from the international Green lobby whilst they drive Britain toward industrial and financial ruin
